Exploring through the Career Expo

Adulting Prep! Grade 12 Bootcamp

It is crucial to expose learners to as many options as possible, to open the door to the many available possibilities, alongside higher learning institutions. We hosted a Mini Career Expo where we invited a representative from the Central Johannesburg TVET(Technical and Vocational Education and Training) College and multiple Skills-Based Programs that grade 11 and 12 learners could strive towards transitioning into after matric.

Khethiwe Shabangu is an alumnus from a TVET and tells her story about how she was encouraged to go to a TVET and is now a solar heating inspector. A TVET allowed her to go into the career of plumbing and even acquire her driver’s licence. She encourages grade 11, and 12 learners with words such as, “life is what you make of it.”

Alumni’s from Afrika Tikkun and Harambee and Enke shared their experiences of how they started engaging with the programs, and how they are all full-time employees. It would not have happened if it were not for these different opportunities Skills-Based programs offered to them.

The learners engaged with representatives from the Central Johannesburg TVET College as well as all the Skills-Based Programs.

We believe that it is vital to create as many options as possible for young learners to develop a resilient future generation.

We want to thank our partner Gradesmatch and all our guests that attended.
