Making maths count with OLICO

Making maths count with OLICO 3

Maths is an enormous challenge for learners in South Africa, and this limits their access to opportunities in the future. It is, therefore, important for learners to engage more with the subject in a less intimidating way. The OLICO timetable challenge takes place annually, and our grade 7 New Nation School learners participated. OLICO knows that understanding and passing maths in school is key to unlocking opportunities after school. Therefore, using tutoring and technology, they make maths make sense for school youth through their interactive platform. OLICO offers a sense-making and confidence-building approach that makes maths accessible, fun and meaningful to South African schoolchildren.

The learners enjoyed this program which improves their reading, understanding, and knowledge of maths.

On the 18th of October, we celebrated our learners’ achievements by awarding learners that participated and completed the Maths Challenge. Learners received awards for completing the challenge, the quickest finish time for each timetable and an overall winner. We want to congratulate Sihle for winning best overall and being the OLICO champ this year!

Thank you to OLICO and Microsoft for making this initiative possible.
