Pierre’s Mission: A 12-Year-Old Changemaker Building a Brighter Future in Ivory Park, South Africa

A moment of connection!

Pierre has always believed that education has the power to change lives. At just 12 years old, he’s already made a difference—first by fundraising to build a school in Burkina Faso, and now, by turning his attention to one of our Khulani schools in Ivory Park, Guateng, South Africa.

It all started when Pierre learned about Eqinisweni Secondary School, a place filled with bright, ambitious learners striving for success despite overcrowding and limited infrastructure. He discovered that the school lacked a dedicated hall—a vital space for exams, assemblies, and after-school activities. While we had already taken the initiative to build the much-needed facility with our Faranani Infrastructure Project (FIP), Pierre was deeply moved by the school’s challenges and felt compelled to support and amplify the efforts. Seeing the potential impact, he decided to rally others to help bring the vision to life.

“Improving education has always been a cause close to my heart, and when I heard about the Faranani Infrastructure project, I knew I had to get involved.” – Pierre

A Dream to Build More Than a Hall

With the same determination that fueled his previous project, Pierre launched a GoFundMe campaign, successfully raising over $11,000 to help support our efforts in building a school hall for Eqinisweni Secondary School. And the impact may grow even further—additional matching funds are still in progress! His goal wasn’t just about constructing a building—it was about creating a space where learners could learn, grow, and dream without limitations. But he didn’t stop at fundraising. Pierre reached out to the school’s leadership and learners, listening to their stories and understanding their daily struggles. He wanted to make sure that every dollar raised would go exactly where it was needed most.

The Faranani Infrastructure Project: A Second Chance for Many

This project is part of a bigger initiative—our Faranani Infrastructure Project (FIP), in partnership with YouthBuild South Africa. The project doesn’t just focus on improving schools; it’s also a second chance for young people who are unemployed and out of school.

Through FIP, local youth who are not in education, employment, or training (NEETs) receive skills training in construction. They are the ones who will help build the school hall, gaining experience, confidence, and a pathway to employment. In the process, they’re not just building walls—they’re building their futures.

How You Can Help

Pierre’s dream is more than just bricks and mortar—it’s about hope, opportunity, and the belief that every child deserves a safe space to learn. And he can’t do it alone.

Donate – Every contribution, big or small, brings us closer to the goal.

Pierre may be just 12 years old, but he’s proving that you’re never too young to change the world. Now, we have the chance to stand with him and turn his dream into reality.
